Petrie-Flom academic fellow Patrick Taylor will discuss regulation of stem cell, fetal and neonatal research, in the context of the special challenges bioethical novelty poses for the judiciary, legislatures and the executive.

On February 15, 2001, a decade ago today, the first draft sequence and analysis of the human genome—the blue print for a human being—was published in the journal Nature. On the tenth anniversary of that transformative moment,  Harvard University President Drew Fausts invites the community to an interdisciplinary, multi-institutional forum on the genome project’s origins, promise, and significance to society.
 
 

This seminar will feature several speakers including, David Weitz, Associate Faculty member, Wyss Institute and Mallinckrodt Professor of Physics and Applied Physics, Harvard SEAS and Professors Josh Lerner of HBS, Terry Fisher of HLS, and John Palfrey of HLS and the Berkman Center. It will be an excellent opportunity to gain insight into this complex process, and topics of discussion will include an overview of the process from technology to start-up and determining the right time to patent.

Wyss Founding Core Faculty Member and Platform Leader Joanna Aizenberg discusses synthesis and applications of hydrogel-actuated integrated responsive structures (HAIRS).

Don Ingber, Founding Director of the Wyss Institute, will give a lecture as part of the Pathology Department Grand  Rounds Series.
