Vibrating Insoles

Jun 22, 2009 image

This vibrating insole device would provide sensory enhancement stimulation to the feet of the user. For an elderly individual, this sensory enhancement stimulation would improve their sense of balance, which is intended to ultimately reduce the incidence of falls. For a wearer with diabetes, the vibrating insole would restore some of the sensation that is lost through the disease and it should eventually decrease the risk of ulceration. Additionally, the insole may find applications in areas where augmented athletic or normal performance is desireable (e.g. rock climbing, high steel work).
