Fly take-off

Jul 6, 2009 image

This robot fly is capable of lift-off, with wings controlled by a minuscule flight muscle or ‘actuator’ that drives movement when a voltage is applied. While the fly currently requires an external power supply, the ultimate aim is to create large quantities of autonomous free-flying robotic insects. (By the Wood lab)
