Sphere In Hand

Jun 24, 2009 image

A sphere captured during the self-assembly of nanoscale bristles. As the bristles assemble, they grab whatever is there, and then can be made to release it. This technology could potentially be used to capture drugs and then release them deep inside the body. Nanobristles can be made out of many materials, including any polymer. These bristles, each of which iis 1/1,000th the width of a human hair, are made of epoxy glue. (By Joanna Aizenberg)
