Research Assistant II – Protein Engineering

Responsibilities include: molecular cloning, DNA sequencing preparation and analysis, error-prone and targeted mutagenesis, expression and purification of proteins produced from in vivo bacterial and/or cell-free methods, functional assay development, and computational design and analysis. The Research Assistant will also aid in the implementation of these processes with robotic automation and liquid handling protocols. A successful candidate should have the ability to independently follow established protocols and be able make improvements when necessary. The candidate should also be high motivated, detail oriented, organized, and able to take the initiative. Collaboration within a multidisciplinary group and good communication skills are essential. Additional responsibilities include: thoroughly documenting experimental observations and protocols, participate in writing of research proposals, reports, patent applications, presentations, and publications as well as providing critical data, figures, or information for grant and patent submissions.
