David B. Thompson, Ph.D.

Scientist I

David B. Thompson, Ph.D.

David received his B.S. in Microbiology from Michigan State University, and his Ph.D. in Biological & Biomedical Sciences from Harvard University. As a graduate student in the laboratory of Dr. David R. Liu, David used protein engineering and directed evolution to develop therapeutic protein delivery strategies, and to improve the safety profile of genome editing agents. At the Wyss Institute, David is pursuing a range of projects that utilize synthetic DNA libraries, genetic selections, and next-generation sequencing to overcome barriers to safe and effective gene and cell therapy. David’s broader research interests include development of basic biological research tools, age-related degenerative diseases, reproductive biology, and the biology of therapeutics.
