Thomas Cunningham, Ph.D.

Research Scientist - Phage Display and Protein Engineering

Thomas’ research interests include using phage display to discover and develop novel protein-based components for diagnostic or therapeutic application. He’s focused on aiding drug discovery projects by efficiently identifying and maturing early stage candidates through rational library construction and phenotypic screening on apt models. During his postdoc in the lab of Brian Kay at the University of Illinois, Chicago, he used phage display to develop a human eye-injury biosensor. Thomas received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2008. Prior, he received his B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
