Makoto received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University. His Ph.D. research focused on the development of optogenetic tools in bacteria and yeast for metabolic engineering applications. As a Technology Development Fellow, he has been focusing on the design of controllable RNA modalities in mammalian cells, as well as bacterially derived targeted drug delivery tools.
