Two Wyss Faculty Named AAAS Fellows

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has selected Core Faculty member Jim Collins and Associate Faculty member Ali Khademhosseini to be among its new class of 388 AAAS Fellows.  Both were included in the Engineering category, and were nominated by their peers for their distinguished efforts to advance science.

Khademhosseini, who is developing new biomaterials for regenerative medicine applications, is also Associate Professor at Harvard-MIT’s Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST), Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School.

The AAAS fellows are selected by the AAAS Council from a list of nominees submitted by section steering committee members.  According to the AAAS, the work of the new members reflects the theme for the AAAS meeting to be held in Chicago in February 2014: “Meeting Global Challenges: Discovery and Innovation.”
