The 3rd Annual Innovation Showcase and Pitch Finale for the Harvard Surgical Program in Innovation (SPIN) will be on Friday, May 10 at 6:45pm.
This event is the culmination of a seven-month course on clinically-oriented creative problem solving sponsored by the BIDMC Department of Surgery. Four teams of residents, students, and other healthcare providers have practiced the tools of innovation while addressing an issue within the practice of surgery.
Each team will pitch their innovation to the audience and to panel of experts, who will vote on the projects at the conclusion of the pitches. The event will feature a discussion by Dr. Gabriel Brat, a Trauma and Critical Care surgeon at BIDMC, titled “Balancing Innovation and Commercialization During Surgical Training.” The event will conclude with a networking session with the participants as well as other innovators after the pitching has ended, which will be open to anyone.
You are encouraged to attend and support the trainees, who have worked hard during their limited spare time to help solve targeted problems facing patients. Food and drink will be provided at 6:15pm to all who join!.
