Christina Lewis, Ph.D.

Christina earned a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University. She previously worked for 10 years as a Research Engineer on Dismounted Soldier Protection for the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center (DEVCOM-SC). Her contributions to the Army included a bacteria sensor that distinguished live from dead foodborne pathogens through an NRC Postdoctoral Research Associateship Program. She received a Department of the Army Civilian Service Achievement Medal for her work on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene composite materials for investigating soft armor wear durability. Christina subsequently worked as a Program Manager focused on early applied research and technology translation to the military. At the Wyss, Christina supports large transformative sponsored research programs requiring programmatic assistance and guidance. Christina also seeks to engage with government sponsors, partners, and collaborators interested in investing in early applied research at the Wyss to support military applications or technology translation for broader community impact.
