I am an experimental scientist. Fundamentally, the question of “how do you measure something?” is one that doesn’t get old for me. It has ranged from measuring the rupture forces between two proteins bound together to the concentration of a hormone in a urine sample. I am currently working with the Molecular Robotics Initiative on the DNA Calipers project, a single molecule method to measure structural properties as well as map protein post-translational modifications with Angstrom precision. I am also working with the Nanoswitch Theraputics “Lab On a Molecule” project, funded by Northpond Lab where we are using DNA nanoswitches as a next generation platform for drug screening.
