David Kalish is a Senior Engineer I who designs and fabricates devices and parts, develops motion control software, and improves device automation. He is currently the go-to mechanical engineer in the Synthetic Biology Focus Area, where he makes customized tools to aid scientists in their research. Dave received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University in 2011 and Duke University in 2013, respectively. Before becoming a staff engineer, Dave was an intern for the Synthetic Biology Focus Area for three summers during graduate school, helping to design and fabricate parts for a blood cleaning device, and develop software for DNA sequencers.
