Scientist I

Kelsey Farenhem, Ph.D.

Kelsey joined the Wyss in 2026 as a Computational Biologist in the Diagnostics Accelerator. She utilizes her combination of bioinformatics and experimental experience to develop tools for the detection of disease states through RNA sequencing and other multi-omics platforms. Before joining the Wyss, she received both her B.A. in Biochemistry and Biophysics and M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, and then completed her Ph.D. at MIT. Her thesis work focused on developing a high-throughput chemical probing method for the transcriptome-wide quantification of RNA accessibility and structure, and she contributed to various projects aiming to understand RNA behavior and dysregulation in neurodegenerative diseases.
