Emilia is a physician-scientist working on the invention, development, and translation of medical technologies. She currently leads translational research at Arctic Fox Biomedical and was co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Sundaily until its acquisition in 2020. She has authored over a dozen publications and is an inventor on several patent applications including a novel phase change coolant for targeted tissue cooling and reduction of adipose tissue. Previously she was a Fulbright-Schuman scholar to the European Union, Forbes 30 Under 30 in Healthcare, and Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum. She also works with the non-profit The Future of Life Institute to advance the goal of ensuring emerging technologies are deployed safely, ethically, and for the betterment of humanity.
At the Wyss Institute, Emilia is a member of the Wyss Mentor Hive who specializes in MedTech, clinical trial and animal study design, clinical development, and early validation.
The Wyss Mentor Hive is a mentoring program that invites investors and business professionals with significant early stage translational experience, clinical and regulatory experts in driving therapeutic and device development, and serial entrepreneurs with a track record of success to work closely with Wyss entrepreneur teams on startup formation and technology commercialization. Mentors provide feedback to founders and entrepreneurs, while also demonstrating commitment and leadership in the Wyss innovation community.
