Sangmin Lee received her B.S. in Life Sciences from Korea University and her Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST), South Korea. Her PhD work focused on modulating the hydrogel network within the double- or triple- emulsions to create functional hydrogel membranes for microcapsule-type sensors and drug delivery carriers. As a Wyss Technology Development Fellow, Sangmin is working on developing a new type of soft tissue replacement platform that features a porous structure enabling active interaction with host tissue while providing sufficient mechanical support to ensure volume retention over time. Additionally, she is exploring the regenerative effects from the spatiotemporal mechanical properties of the porous structure provided by sacrificial microgel scaffolds.
