The Wyss Institute will be posting Design Competitions on this site for high school and college students from around the world to develop new biologically inspired designs, and to allow them to participate virtually in the fabrication of new materials and devices that are guided by these designs.
Design Competitions will, for example, involve applying computer-aided design (CAD) software developed by Institute faculty and staff to design nanomaterials that build into complex three-dimensional shapes that meet the specific design criteria announced for the competition. The winning design will be fabricated into a real, self-assembling material by Institute staff, and a high resolution electron microscopic image of the nanostructure will be printed, mounted and delivered to the winning applicant along with an Wyss Design Winner Award certificate.
Detailed information and instructions for future design competitions will be posted on this webpage in coming months.
