Wyss Institute Core Faculty member Radhika Nagpal has been honored with the Capers and Marion McDonald Award for Excellence in Mentoring and Advising by the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Nominated by current and former students and faculty colleagues, Nagpal is recognized for supporting the personal and professional development of others through thoughtful coaching and advising. In addition, Nagpal is recognized for her volunteer service at community events that encourage children to consider pursuing STEM careers, and for her continued support of student initiatives at Harvard, including the Undergraduate Women in Computer Science organization, which she was instrumental in creating. Nagpal’s work at the Wyss Institute combines biology with computer science and robotics to engineer autonomous swarms of small, self-organizing robots that work with each other to achieve complex tasks cooperatively.
