Blood Clot Dx
An ultra-sensitive triage test that identifies patients at risk for blood clots before they happen, enabling proactive treatment to reduce complications and deaths across a wide range of conditions. -
ReConstruct: Vascularized Tissue for Breast Reconstruction and Augmentation
ReConstruct is a platform for growing, vascularizing, and implanting patient-derived tissues that enable safer breast reconstruction after cancer surgery. -
HarborSite: Precise and Efficient Gene Editing for Next-Generation Gene Therapies
The HarborSite next-generation gene therapy platform enables integration of therapeutic genes into genomic safe harbors using highly specific and efficient recombinases to enable more predictable, safe and durable gene therapies. -
Soft Robotic Glove for Neuromuscular Rehabilitation
The soft robotic glove helps restore lost hand function in patients with neurological conditions using inflatable chambers that gently bend and straighten the fingers repeatedly. Wyss startup Imago Rehab launched in 2021 to commercialize this technology for at-home rehabilitation of stroke survivors, and aims to expand its offerings into other areas of rehabilitation. -
SomaCode: Getting Cell Therapies Where They Need to Go
SomaCode is solving the problem of cell therapy delivery by identifying unique molecular “zip codes” for disease and engineering cells to home to those zip codes, making cell therapies safer and more effective. -
Athlete-Derived Probiotics
FitBiomics is commercializing probiotic supplements based on unique combinations of microbes found in elite athletes’ guts to help optimize the health and function of all humans.

Video/AnimationReimagine the World – Volume 4 – ReConstruct EditionDenise Skok, a two-time breast cancer survivor, Luba Perry, a scientist at the Wyss Institute, and Samuel Lin, a plastic surgeon collaborating with the Wyss Institute, are all working to reimagine a world where breast cancer patients have better reconstruction options. The ReConstruct project at the Wyss Institute uses adipose tissue assembled from a patient’s... -
Video/AnimationReConstruct – 3D Bioprinted Vascularized Fat Tissues for Breast ReconstructionBreast cancer affects 15% of all women. Current options for breast reconstruction are insufficient and have poor patient outcomes. A research team at the Wyss Institute is addressing this clinical need by fabricating vascularized adipose tissue flaps for therapeutic use. Credit: Wyss Institute at Harvard University -
Video/AnimationBridging science, engineering, and art: from mechanobiology to Human Organs-on-ChipsIn this Marsilius Lecture, Wyss Founding Director Don Ingber shares his personal path from a serendipitous experience in an undergraduate art class that led to his discovery of how living cells are constructed using “tensegrity” architecture and how this contributed to the birth of the field of Mechanobiology to his more recent work on human... -
