Fireside Chat with Dr. Donald Ingber – Raif Ali Dinçkök Student Forum at the Mehrotra Institute
NextIn this fireside chat, Donald Ingber shares what a lifetime spent inventing at the border of biology and engineering has taught him: how nature’s own designs can solve humanity’s hardest problems, why the greatest breakthroughs come from connecting fields no one thought to combine, and where bioinspired science is taking the future of medicine.
Ingber is the Founding Director of the Wyss Institute at Harvard, where he leads hundreds of researchers drawing inspiration from the way nature builds to create technologies that improve human health, spinning out dozens of startups along the way. A physician and bioengineer trained at Yale, he is best known for inventing the human Organ-on-a-Chip, tiny devices lined with living human cells that function like real organs and have transformed how scientists study disease and test new medicines. That breakthrough became the foundation of Emulate, the company he founded that now brings organs-on-chips to labs and drug developers around the world.
